Let Us Live in the Future
Updated: Jan 1, 2021
Like-minded people can meet anytime and anywhere in the world. One such incident occurred at Chia Beach in Sardinia, Italy. Samuel, a man whose legs were half burnt in the Carlton Tower Fires; Rasiq, a visually challenged person; Asylum, a deaf and dumb person; Alexandria, and Ron, who had lost both of his children to cancer, met while they were having dinner in the hotel on the beach they were residing.
Although the other three men had disabilities, Alexandria and Ron still befriended them, because they firmly stood by the belief that everyone is equal and has some special hidden talents. The five of them went to Chia Beach the very next day so that they could chill over beach music and to also get a chance to know each other better.
While sitting down calmly on the beachside after much partying, everyone became quiet, and each escaped into a world of their own. Each was thinking of the times in the future that would be much different from today’s world.
Samuel wished that in the future, no more bomb blasts and terrorist attacks would take place and everyone would feel safe.
Rasiq hoped that no one in the world would be blind and he visualised that in the future, instead of laughing at him, people would be applauding him and other such people for their creativity.
Asylum wished that not a single person in this world went through this misfortune just as him and in the future, instead of being mocked and ridiculed for his disabilities, he would be noticed for his talents.
Alexandria was thinking that in the future, people should stop discriminating between individuals for their gender and disabilities, and start to consider them to be equal. But still, she had worries. If this mindset did not change with time, then every single person in this world would be very narrow-minded and self-serving.
Ron hoped that in the future, there would be no more deadly illnesses such as cancer so that other people would not suffer as he did. He firmly hoped that scientists and microbiologists would be able to invent vaccines, which would reduce mortality caused due to preventable diseases. He wished that people would stop becoming so money-minded, and fix the prices of the essential medicines and vaccines to a price that would be affordable for people belonging to all strata of society.
Suddenly, they heard a siren and, as they rose up to go, the smile on their faces signified how much they wanted to make a better future.
