The Nature of Conflict
there are two foreign roads
in the folds of my mind
one crafted by musing loads
the other when I was blind.
neither have I fully taken.
disputes choke my route
in a manner, I must laud
for despite being a brute
it reminds me I'm flawed.
ten voices in discord,
ten weary nights awake
a constant war of views
and my will for will's sake
drowning in the darkest of hues.
what road must I choose?
and must I choose at all?
the flesh despises strife
but the soul knows it well.
another test of life,
but I am slow to explain.
but explain I surely must
so I hold my own hand
and create my trust
till I wake up on the land
the right road leads to.

About the Piece:
I love writing poems for which I am given a prompt. I jotted this piece down in the notes of my phone and kept editing it until I was satisfied. Despite facing an umpteen number of conflicts in my usual life, I only ever thought about it during this quarantine when I had the chance to sit and organize my thoughts. This is a simple poem that talks about a conflict, the effect it has on me, and how I choose to overcome it.
